Onam (ഓണം)

ONAM.

Onam is a Hindu festival.
Onam is not permissible in Islam or Christianity.
Onam is not celebrated in Buddhism or Jainism.

Some people say that this festival is started by Buddhists during harvest time. The story of Mahabali was later included by Hindus.

Onam is the story of Lord Vishnu and the Asura king Bali (Mahabali) who will be the next Indra.

For non believers in northern Kerala, Onam Sadya includes non vegetarian dishes. This is a diplomatic way of celebrating Onam by Christians and Muslims. Unless Sadya includes some form of non vegetarian dish, it will be strictly a Hindu festival. But are the Hindus willing to accept it?

If Onam is to be shared by others, then the story of Lord Vishnu and King Bali also should be removed. Instead importance should be given to make it look like a harvest festival.

If you are a Christian or Muslim, then tell me one good reason that you are not punished on the judgement day if you celeberate Onam. Remember the Ten Commandments; 'You shall have no other gods before me'; By celeberating Onam you are not deleberately worshipping other Gods but unknowingly you are worshipping and accepting Lord Vishnu.

Remember what Yahweh has said in Deut 12:2 ;
2 Destroy completely all the places on the high mountains and on the hills and under every spreading tree where the nations you are dispossessing worship their gods. 3 Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones and burn their Asherah poles in the fire; cut down the idols of their gods and wipe out their names from those places.

Instead of destroying, you are participating with them, and you are marked for eternal punishment. In Islam, idol worship deserves capital punishment. There are many versus in Qur'an which says against believing or participating with idol worshipers.

ഓണം ഹിന്ദുക്കളുടെ ഉത്സവമാകുന്നു.
ഇസ്ലാമിലും ക്രിസ്തുമതത്തിലും ഓണം അനുവദനീയമല്ല .
ബുദ്ധ മതക്കാരും ജൈനരും ഇത് ആചരിക്കാറില്ല.

ഈ ആചാരം ബുദ്ധമതക്കാര്‍ കൊയ്ത്ത് കാലത്ത് തുടങ്ങിയതാണന്നു ചിലര്‍ പറയുന്നു. മഹാബലിയുടെ കഥ പില്‍കാലത്ത് ഹിന്ദുക്കള്‍ ചേര്‍ത്താണ്.

ഓണം, ഭഗവാന്‍ വിഷ്ണുവിന്‍റെയും അസുര രാജാവായിരുന്ന ബാലിയുടെയും (മഹാബലി) കഥയാകുന്നു.

വടക്കന്‍ കേരളത്തിലുള്ള അഹിന്ദുക്കള്‍ ഓണസദ്യയില്‍ പച്ചക്കറികള്‍ക്ക് പുറമേ മാംസ വിഭവങ്ങളും വിളംബാറുണ്ട്. ഓണം ആചരിക്കാനുള്ള ഒരു തന്ത്രമായിട്ടു ഇതിനെ കരുതിയാല്‍ മതി. മാംസ വിഭവങ്ങള്‍ ഇല്ലെങ്കില്‍ ഓണം ഹൈന്ദവരുടെ മാത്രമായിരിക്കും. എന്നാല്‍ ഈ മാറ്റവുമായി ഹിന്ദുക്കള്‍ യോജിക്കുമോ?

ഓണം എല്ലാവരുടെയും ആകണമെങ്കില്‍ മഹാബലിയുടെയും ഭഗവാന്‍ വിഷ്ണുവിന്‍റെയും കഥ ഒഴിവാക്കണം. പകരം, ഇത് കൊയ്ത്തുകാല ഉത്സവായി കാണാനുള്ള പ്രാധാന്യം കൊടുക്കണം.

ഓണം ആചരിക്കുന്ന ക്രിസ്ത്യാനികളും മുസ്ലിമുകളും ന്യായവിധിനാളില്‍ എന്തുകൊണ്ട് നിങ്ങള്ക്ക് ശിക്ഷ ലഭിക്കില്ല എന്നതിന് ഒരു കാരണമെങ്കിലും കാണിക്കാന്‍ കഴിയുമോ? പത്തുകല്‍പ്പനകള്‍ ഓര്‍ക്കുക! 'ഞാനല്ലാതെ അന്യ ദൈവങ്ങള്‍ നിനക്ക് ഉണ്ടാകരുത്. ഓണം ആചരിക്കുന്നതിനാല്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ ഒരുപക്ഷെ അറിഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ട് ഈ കല്പന ലംഘിക്കുന്നില്ലായിരിക്കാം. എന്നാല്‍ വിഷ്ണു ഭഗവാന്‍ യഹോവയല്ലാതെ മറ്റൊരു ദൈവമെന്നു നിങ്ങള്‍ അറിയാതെ സമ്മതിക്കുന്നു. അവിശ്വാസികളുടെ ദേശത്ത് ചെല്ലുമ്പോള്‍ എന്ത് ചെയ്യണം എന്ന് ആവര്‍ത്തനം 12.2 ല്‍ പറയുന്നത് ശ്രദ്ധിക്കു.
തങ്ങളുടെ ദേവന്‍മാരെ സേവിച്ച സ്ഥലങ്ങളൊക്കെയും അശേഷം നശിപ്പിക്കണം. അവരുടെ ബലിപീഠങ്ങള്‍ ഇടിച്ചു കളയേണം; അവരുടെ ബിംബങ്ങളെ തകര്‍ക്കേണം; 
നശിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനു വിപരീതമായി നിങ്ങള്‍ അവരോടു ചേര്‍ന്ന് ആഘോഷിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ ഓര്‍ക്കുക മരണാനന്തര ശിക്ഷയ്ക്ക് നിങ്ങള്‍ അര്‍ഹനായിക്കഴിഞ്ഞു. വിഗ്രഹാരാധനയും അവരുടെ ആഘോഷങ്ങള്‍ക്കും ഇസ്ലാം കാഠിന്യമായ ശിക്ഷ നല്‍കുന്നു. ഖുറാനില്‍ ഇതുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട അനേകം വാക്യങ്ങള്‍ കാണാം. എല്ലാം ഇവിടെ ചേര്‍ക്കുന്നില്ല.
